Sonia supports milk producers with her expertise in dairy hygiene, ensuring that high levels of hygiene contribute to a high quality of milk. Many ‘Protected Designation of Origin’ cheeses, such as Grana Padano, Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino Romano are produced in Italy and have a worldwide market. This brings specific requirements to the milk production stage of the food chain, so Sonia works with farmers producing these cheeses to provide the highest level of hygiene and welfare to their herds.
"What I like most in my job is meeting customers and discussing the opportunities to improve their results together. I strongly believe that prevention is better than cure, and will always indicate this to my customers, which covers both distributors and farmers,” says Sonia.
In recent years, Italian farmers have increased their attention to using safe products, so are looking for alternative options to replace formalin-based products in hoof treatment. Lameness is the second leading cause of milk loss after mastitis and is causing farmers huge losses in milk production, so Sonia works hard to combat this, whilst also ensuring high animal welfare.
“Deosan hygiene products are formulated to maintain and prolong the condition of all equipment used during and after milking, providing additional cost savings to milk producers. I have great pride in working for Deosan. My customers speak highly of Deosan products and have never had any issues with their milk tanks and milking machines since they started using them”, says Sonia.
